The large hall, approximately 36 tatami mats in size, can be used flexibly, from meeting rooms to overnight stays. The meeting rooms are primarily for general use such as conferences and meetings.

Awaji Island, the birthplace of Japan as described at the beginning of the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters), is the setting for Kotan. Kotan was born as a lodging that embodies "rebirth" on this island, which is mentioned in the creation myth of Japan.

About Accommodation

Kotan is a private, one-group-per-day rental accommodation. Enjoy a special space completely separate from everyday life, where you can relax and unwind as you please.
There is one bedroom on the first floor and two bedrooms on the second floor. Enjoy the unique blend of Japanese and Western styles in each room.

Nestled in a warm, dry environment surrounded by three straits—the Akashi Strait, the Naruto Strait, and the Kitan Strait—Awaji Island is a purveyor of "gourmet" cuisine that continues to carry on Japan's food culture even today.
The island boasts abundant seafood, fresh vegetables, and Awaji beef raised in a free-range environment. These jewel-like ingredients, carefully preserved, nurtured, and passed down through generations, are polished by top-class chefs deeply knowledgeable in the art of cooking.
Please savor the gourmet cuisine and culture presented on your table.
You can choose from menus that suit your needs, including breakfast-included options, seasonal à la carte dishes and sushi courses, and Italian courses.

Guests of Shoin can enjoy a special visit to Izanagi Shrine.

Izanagi Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Izanagi-no-Mikoto and Izanami-no-Mikoto, the two deities who accomplished the great task of creating Japan, as described in the "Creation Myth" at the beginning of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. It is the oldest shrine in Japan mentioned in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and has been revered throughout the country since ancient times as the Ichinomiya (first-ranked shrine) of Awaji Province. It is a Myojin Taisha (a major shrine listed in the Engishiki), a shrine with the rank of Ippon (first rank) in the Sandai Jitsuroku (a historical record), a former Kanpei Taisha (a major government-supported shrine), and the only shrine in Hyogo Prefecture to be granted the title of "Shinkan-go" (a high-ranking Shinto priest).
